WOW!!! Fast guy's to send QSL!

Yes! Today I received an ATNO and a new IOTA. It was OC-085 with the call K5P, Palmyra Atoll.
Super fast from such a big operation and a super nice QSL!

Don't you agree?? Any way nice to get this confirmed on paper for IOTA. LoTW was uploaded some time ago.

Enjoy!

3XY1T on 160.

I have been Calling 3XY1T on 160 but so far no success. He is easy to hear but it is difficult for him to hear me. I'm lsn on my K9AY and transmitting on my 24 m high vertical with 12 m linear loading. Running about 1 Kw.

You can see on the display that I was lsn on 1826,8 and TX a bit up!. But I will try agn tomorrow or tonight.

This morning the temp was -13 C (8,6 F). But with a little help of the sun it will be around +5 C (41 F) during mid day. The sun is getting warm!

New IOTA!

Today I received QSL for a new never before activated IOTA. It was AF-119, Coetivy Island. Call used for the operation was S79C. Unfortunately the QSL was to late for this year IOTA update. But it is saved into IOTA directory for next year.

And here are the QSL. NICE !!

This weekend the CQWW 160 is on. But it is hard to get any new in this Contest due to most of the EU stations is Calling CQ. And it is a real challenge to dig out the week ones under strong EU stations. But I Think I will try to see if I can work some new for my 160 DXCC.

3XY1T on some more band slots.

I have worked 3XY1T on RTTY and missing band slots for Guinea. So my challenge Award is slowly improving. I have 127 to the next level (2000). But I'm getting there.

Started to use my Vibroplex Square Racer Del. I put the old Bencher aside and connected this nice looking piece of metal to my rig. This key use Magnetos for the feel and it is real smooth.

Have to Clean it a bit as it is very dusty.

Made an update to LoTW to get Palmyra and South Sandwich and South Georgia Island's into my DXCC account.

New (for moi) IOTA worked this morning.

I worked AF-051, Los Island with the call 3XY1T (Guinea). It is the team from I2YSB and I worked them on 40 m CW. And log on line so after e few minutes my QSO was confirmed. SUPER.

Got a QSL from FO5MD. It was from the operation from OC-066 Tatakoto Island in the French Polynesia. Nice card but no new IOTA.

Nice Place! Worked him in March 2015 and requested a direct QSL and on Feb 18 2016 it arrived!!??

Oh Yes! When I worked 3XY1T I did it from my own QTH. No remote!!!! Have no access what so ever to a remote station. All is done from JO99bv!!!!!

Where are we going???

I was scanning 17 m band yesterday and found a 9K2 station on SSB. Looked in my DXCC Chart and found that I was missing Kuwait on this band. But he was not strong at beam 135 deg. But when I turned the beam to about 70 deg he was S9?? Called him and we had a QSO where he confirmed the difference in beam direction by informing me he was on remote from VK2!!!! But he did not sign /VK2. So, have I worked 9K2 or VK2??? I put him in my log as VK2 and I'm still looking for 9K2 on 17 m.
Is this the way some DXers is working DX? Have seen some peculiar QSO's with K5P who was almost a ghost here at my QTH. I only got him on 30 and 40 m. But some here in Scandinavia worked him on 160 m mid day? How is this possible? OK, you can get some odd openings on 160 if you are on an high latitude up and time is Dec/Jan noon (you are in the grey zone all day due to low or no sun above the horizon). Or is remote from other country's the answer to get the rare one in the log???!!! And not show from which DXCC you are working from??? Cheating, or......................................?????

Need a Picture!!

This is a Swedish made Dive Bomber from around WWII. It was called SAAB B17 and the shrouds on the landing gear was used as air brakes during dive. Engine was an P&W (Swedish made) STWC-3 delivering about 1065 Hp. This is a totally refurbished restored all original flying Aircraft. You can see it during summer air shows arranged by the Swedish Air Force. Make a nice sound!!!

Is ham radio DX-ing more or less dead, or is remote OK???????

No Phone and No Internet!!!

We had a severe storm on the night to Saturday 30 January. About 2 Km from my house a small shed got airborne and took the Telephone line with it. As the result a few number of users was out of Telephone/Internet (ADSL). As I have no 3G cover out here in the middle of nowhere I was totally lost.
But late last night I've got it back!!!!

The Storm was quite severe. Wind gusts up to over 45 Kt and sustained wind of about 25-30 Kt. I was a bit worried of my aluminium up 70' in the air. But I was lucky and I found no damage what so ever.

Managed to Catch K5P on 30 and 40 m only. VP8STI was worked on 6 band slots and VP8SGI was worked on 7 band slots. I've got STI on CW and Phone, SGI on CW and RTTY. QSL is on order for all Three and K5P has been confirmed on LoTW! Super.

No Picture today.
