Rare IOTA arrived as QSL!

Got a QSL for the IOTA operation by Cezar, VE3LYC, during his operation as CE4A on SA-095.
It is always fun to work Cezar. He has fine ears and very good operation. As this was an IOTA operation I only worked him on 20 m.

Nice card. This pushed my IOTA up to 212 confirmed Isl. Much more to do still!!

Today it is more than +10 C outside. So I will bring a cup of coffie and sit in the sun for a while and just enjoy life as it is.

Take care all of you out there.

Tuesday 28 February 2012

Three things happened today!!

1.
Spring is here. Temperature is 8 deg plus and sun is shining from a blue sky.

2.
I got QSL from TN2T. Very nice card and a new one for me.

3.
The big news last! The Challange Award arrived today. No damage to the plaque. And it is installed on the wall. Nice isn't it?? I got it with the fantastic sum of 1013 DXCC worked and confirmed. I hope I will achive at least 1500 in my life time. The score today in LoTW is 1109. So there have been some small adjustments to my score.

Wonder how many years it would take to achive this wiith QRP??!! Is it possible during a normal life time? Guess it might.

Take care all of you out there.

QSL from Hawaii!

Today I received a QSL from KH7Y worked LP on 12 m band. Very nice card indeed!
QSL was via EA5GL and was requested in October 2011.

Very nice piture from Hawaii. Not the sunny beaches you see in the ad's!

Worked KH2/N2NL yesterday evening on 80 m. Very strong sigs from Guam and I heard that a lot of EU stns worked him after that I had worked him (!!??).

I'm still waiting for my Challange Award. Hope it will arrive soon.

Take care all of you out there.

Sunday 26 February 2012

Off Line for some time.

I have had a broken telephone line and as a consequence no ADSL! On Friday the phone company fixed my broken line and now I'm up and running again.

Have worked 3DA0PW on a few bands and also 3C6A on AF-010.

I have also worked SA-028 as ZX2S.

It will be a short one this time.

I'll be back tomorrow.

ARRL DX CW

I worked some staions during this weekend in ARRL DX CW contest. Conds was not the best but in the few hours I was QRV I managed to work 90 US/VE stations. I was only looking for rare States and I found some. Operating Assisted and most S&P mode.
One thing puzzels me! OK, I'm up in 60 deg North. That is the same latitude as Southern Alaska. I was running 1 KW into my 3 el Yagi with boomlength of 6,5 m and 20 m up in the air. And I was beeten all the time in the piles by central and southern EU stations claiming they was running 100 W!!
Some of these stations was peaking my S-meter 50db over S9 with my beam pointing 320 deg??!!

100 W, Yeah- Right!?

Anyway , it is always fun to work you guys in US. Most of you have great operating skills and good ears eaven for a week sig from 60 deg North!

Now I have to go out and feed the birds. It is -7 and it will be a sunny day.

Take care all of you out there and CUL

More fine QSL

Today a card from Al, CE1/K7CA arrived. I worked him on 80 CW. QSL was via NW7O. Not that bad to get Chile on 80 m.

This morning I worked PJ4/W4IX and TI5/NI1N and JW/LZ2HM all on 80 m. I love 80 m in the mornings.

This coming weekend I will work some US stations in the ARRL DX CW contest. See if I can find the last remaining state, South Dakota, for my WAS.

Sun is shining from a blue sky and teperature is around +2 C and water is dripping from the roof. Nice!
But there are some nasty wether on it's way during this weekend. Lots of snow and heavy winds are predicted. Well, we have to wait and see.

Take care and CUL!

Wednesday 15 February 2012

T32C QSL arrived.

Finally the QSL from the big operation from Kiritimati has arrived. I managed to work them on all bands from 80 to 10 m CW and a few bonus bands on SSB. The team made a QSO score of 213,116 QSO's in 24 days. Amazing!

Good operators and easy to achive QSO with.

Last night and during the day we have got an additional feet of snow. Had to start up my snowblower to get to my car. We don't want any more snow.

CUL all of you and take care.

Tuesday 14 February 2012

A new rare one confirmed.

Today a real DX QSL arrived in my mailbox. It is from Bill, N7OU, operating from North Cook isl.
This was a new one for me. And I managed to work him on 30 m only.

This is very nice indeed!!! You don't work North Cook every day, or............??

I also got a card from my Swedish friends operating during CQWW CW 2010 from Ecuador as HD2M. Worked them on 21 MHz band where I worked SOSB 15 m. I (bragging time) was No. 1 in Sweden!

Nice card from the team in Ecuador.

Thats all for today. Read and dribble over these cards. It is OK to feel some jealousy!!?? Now I'm gonna celebrate with a "Semla" (figure that one out if you can).

Take care and remember that this can't be done with QRP, or can it??

Worked a new DXCC entry!

Last night I heard 6O3A on 30 m. It was Darko, J28AA, operating from Somalia. Hope ARRL will approve this operation. QSL via K2PF. Worked him after a few calls around 6 up from his QRG. This was a new one for me.

HU2DX has gone QRT. I managed to work them on 9 band slots. On CW from 80 to 10m and on 40 m SSB as bonus for DXCC. A well performed operation with fine sigs here in 60 deg north. QSL via DH7WW.

Tonight we have received one inch of the white stuff called snow. Totally unneccessary.  But the sun has climbed a bit over the horizon so during a sunny day the temerature is rising above 0 and water is dripping from the roof. The birds has also starting to sing. Spring is on the way for sure.

That all for now. Take care all of you readers out there.

Wednesday 8 February 2012

QRT of some of the DXpeditions this Winter.

Now has Malpelo Isl, HK0NA, gone QRT. I managed to work them on 11 slots. From 80 to 10 m CW and a few SSB slots as extra bonus. QSL is ordered via QQRS and a small donation is sent via Pay-Pal.

C21HA was worked on 3 slots on CW only. QSL on order.

VP6T, Pitcairn Isl,  a real rare one for me. And unfortunally I only managed to get them into my log once!!?? But G3TXF has alredy uploadet to LoTW so my QSO is confirmed. But I need paper QSL for IOTA so that is also on order.

TN2T has also gone QRT. I have them in my log on 4 slots. All CW.

Remaining DXpeditions is HU2DX from El Salvador. So far they have been added 6 times in my log. From 80 to 10 m CW. Missing on 20 and 40 m so far. And I suspect my score will stay there as they will leav on 10 of Feb. Very good operators with open ears for us up in 60 deg North.

ZK2C is also active on the bands. So far I have worked them 2 times. But they will not be safe from my signals.

And as usual there are the normal "UpUpUp:ers" and all other words you can come up with. And for example; the DX is calling me (SM5CBM) but every one else in EU must have my call as well as they keep on calling the DX eaven when the DX is only lsn for me. Don't they knew CW??????? Or do they just don't care that they are slowing the rate down for the DX ! HK0NA pile's in the beginning was just amazing. Everyone was calling all the time and no one was lsn!

Anyway take care all of you readers out there and keep on calling!?

Wednesday 1 February 2012

Almost SO2R and funny behavior from HK0NA!

Well, my station is almost a SO2R now. The only thing to do and purchase is change logic of my antenna switch and get either a Mikroham or EZMaster for in and out data and some bandpass filters. But I will leave it as it is for now. Lack of funds!!!

Now back to HK0NA. I have managed to get in the "on line log" 8 times. But I have had a perfect QSO on 28 MHz SSB but not in log?! On 80 m he has called my call and I have answered him and I do not get an "R" back. Instead he start to call another station. I have heard this several times and it has happened to me 3 times on 80 m. And of cause not in log!!?? I wonder why they are doing it this way. I have heard several times HK0NA calling for example SP2?. Next second HK0NA call DJ6 "what ever" and makes a QSO! What happened to the SP2? No further comments in this case. Just wonder if someone else have had the same experience as me.

Winter is finally coming. Temperature this morning was -15 C (minus 15 brrrrr). And the weather guys are threaten us with lots of snow tomorrow. I believe it when I se it!!

Well back to the radio and chase some other stations.

Take care all of you out there!
